The iPad loses connectivity when left idle

This guide offers troubleshooting steps for an iPad that frequently disconnects from the Displaysweet app when left idle.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check iPad Settings
    • Auto-Lock:
      • Navigate to Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock.
      • Set to Never if the iPad is used for continuous display.
    • Background App Refresh:
      • Go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh.
      • Ensure it's On for Wi-Fi and enabled for the DisplaySweet app.
    • Low Power Mode:
      • Access Settings → Battery.
      • Verify Low Power Mode is turned off, as it can suspend network activity when the device is idle.
  2. Network / Wi-Fi Settings
    • Wi-Fi Assist:
      • In Settings → Mobile Data, scroll down and toggle Wi-Fi Assist off (this can sometimes cause disconnections).
    • Forget & Reconnect:
      • Remove the current Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to establish a fresh connection.
    • Router settings:
      • Some networks are configured to disconnect idle devices after a set period. It's advisable to check with IT or the venue administrator.
