BIOS Auto Power-On Configuration
Ensuring your DisplaySweet PCs automatically power on after a power outage is essential for reliable showroom performance. This guide outlines the standard steps to configure Auto Power-On (also known as Restore on AC/Power Loss) across most Windows-based systems. (Source: DisplaySweet PC Deployment Standards)
Why This Matters
Auto Power-On ensures devices recover instantly after a power cut—no manual intervention required and no downtime for clients or sales teams.
Before You Begin
-
Ensure the device is fully shut down.
-
Connect a keyboard directly to the PC.
-
BIOS menus vary—your labels may differ slightly.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Restart the PC
Begin by restarting the computer so you can access the BIOS menu.
2. Enter the BIOS
When the system boots, repeatedly press the relevant key—usually Del, F2, F12, F1, or Esc—until the BIOS opens.
Tip: Most PCs show the correct key during the boot splash screen.
3. Navigate to Power Settings
Look for one of the following common sections:
-
Power Management
-
APM Configuration
-
Advanced Settings
4. Locate the Auto Power-On Setting
The setting may appear under names such as:
-
Restore on AC/Power Loss
-
AC Power Recovery
-
After Power Failure
5. Set the Option to “Power On”
Change the configuration so the device boots automatically when power is restored.
6. Save and Exit
Open the Save & Exit menu → confirm the save → allow the PC to reboot.
7. Verify Power Supply Switch
Ensure the physical switch on the back of the PC (if present) is set to “I” (On).
8. Test the Setup
Shut the PC down → unplug the power cable → plug it back in.
If configured correctly, the PC should boot automatically.
